REGENERATIVE RANCHING AS A CLIMATE SOLUTION

In 2022, Sustainable Northwest and partners were awarded a $10M USDA Climate Smart Commodities Grant. The grant supports Sustainable Northwest’s regenerative ranching program that is implementing climate-smart grazing practices on 120 ranches on 7M acres in 11 Western states. The program starts with baseline monitoring and a 5-year follow up to track progress on the following metrics: Spatial data that measures biomass and forage classes over time, water infiltration rates, soil health, biodiversity, bare ground, life cycle analysis, and soil carbon.

Stockpot is proud to be the marketing partner for the USDA CSC grant awarded to Sustainable NW. Tasked with developing educational campaigns and promoting regenerative brand attributes of beef in an effort to secure and retain market access for small and underserved producers. Allowing for continued ownership and management at the family ranch level by aggregating and streamlining sales, promotion, and distribution. These brand attributes are critical differentiators for family-owned and Tribal ranches and necessary for diversified, resilient American beef production. Our approach will generate increased beef sales to compensate landowners for ecosystem services and reduced carbon emissions, provide and secure market access, establish product partnerships that strengthen agricultural livelihoods, satisfy growing consumer demand for climate-smart products, and create healthier ecosystems.

Marketing Strategies

  • Develop strategies to communicate, educate and promote regenerative ranching under the umbrella of the USDA CSC grant.

  • Promote the program by highlighting people, practice, product and place.

  • Educate consumers about why they should care, and how climate-smart beef is the best, tastiest, most widely available, and most conscientious beef choice.

  • Use a comprehensive marketing mix  - owned, earned and paid media - that speaks to food enthusiasts.

  • Develop visually compelling content with the right media mix to catch consumer attention.
